Review: Doritos 2nd Degree Burn Fiery Buffalo

Doritos 2nd Degree Burn Fiery Buffalo

Every once in a while I like to have a nice bag of chips. Something different than the usual and yes I do tend to like the spicier chip variety. So while me and my roommate were near the end of our trip to Vermont we stop in a dinner and this beauty caught my eye. The Degree burn series is a chip series to be paired with Pepsi Max Cease Fire. I at first thought these chips couldn’t be that spicy, I was wrong. The true buffalo sauce flavor was impressive and so was the length of the lingering after burn. The only other flavor taste wise I like better in the Doritos family is Sweet and Spicy.

Review: Del Monte Lite Strawberry Peach Ready to Blend

Del Monte Lite Strawberry Peach Ready to Blend

This one was an exciting review for me cause I love smoothies they are so easy to make and portable in the morning or for a quick lunch. Del Monte has made it even easier pop open both freshpacks and dump them in the blender with a larger cup of ice. Blend them for two minutes or until smooth and enjoy. I am not the biggest fan of peaches but the consistency was perfect nice and thick but not to thick to drink. The flavor was good but nothing to write home about the peach overran the strawberry and the flavor was a little weak but that could have been the amount of ice I used. I enjoyed it none the less and would buy it again or one of the other four flavors I saw or add a splash of juice to this one.

Review: Wheatables Nut Crisps Roasted Almond

Wheatables Nut Crisps Roasted Almond

Oh Wheatables, your product product name makes me feeel….. dirty you should really stop that. So on break I did a review of various items I found to snack on at the grocery store and this one stuck out not only for its name but my urge for crackers and dip (fresh ricotta and fresh herbs).  I expected a nice cracker that wasn’t too dry with a sharp snap of almond and I did not get that at all. The crackers themselves had a great hold for my dip or spread, overall a little salty so much so that you couldn’t taste the almond which was  a little troubling. Overall a very good cracker I just wish they went a little lighter on the salt and heavier on the almond slivers instead of chips.

Review: Hotpockets Sideshots Mini Cheeseburgers

Hot Pockets Sideshots Mini Cheeseburger

Looks Delicious right? I microwaved these bad boys up the other day and they were delicious. The bun was soft although there wasn’t much flavor to the bun the inside bursted with a molten hot flavor of cheese and beef. The cheese did not feel all processed cheese which was nice. The beef had a bit of a bite too it and had a nice spice to it. It really reminded me of a Mcdonalds cheeseburger with the pickles and condiments. Hot Pockets did it right with this combo. Now all I need is a party pack with about 30 in each so I can imagine their a sack of White Castle burgers. Hot Pockets we can talk royalties later for that idea.

Review: Sodastream

The Sodastream Collection

So here it is folks the answer to my prayers have arrived. Sodastream has sent me over a starter package to try out. The Sodastream system is a soda making machine that easily allows you to make your own soda at home for a value price of $0.25 per can of soda 12oz and its a great gift for the soda lovers around you.

My friend who is a fellow gamer with me has gotten this from his wife as a gift and loves  to use it. It took me maybe 30 seconds to make my first liter of cola. Its fast its easy and it contains no aspartame and no HFCS.

The bottles that come with it hold 1 liter as screw into the system fairly easily, the carbonation lasts a long time as long as you seal it up tight, and the bottle is reusable and contains no BPA plastic.

My only thing I learned in using the system is that the flavor bottle can be a tad messy but with a quick wipe of the paper towel and some warm water you can clean up those caps quickly with little effort.

My favorite flavors out of the ones I had received are: diet cola, diet lemon-lime, the flavored water essences, energy, diet root beer, and especially orange soda. As I write this I have made samples of each flavor in shooter glasses and have 1-liter of diet cola and orange in the freeze ready for another gaming session later.

So if you like soda get a starter kit today and start making your own soda at home reducing the amount of money your spend, recycling you have to do or trips to the redemption center, and have easy access to delicious soda anytime.

Review: LEAN CUISINE Ginger Garlic Stir Fry with Chicken

Lean Cuisine Ginger Garlic Stir Fry with Chicken

Now that I got the update out of the way we can start on a test run of the weekly reviews to be interrupted by a special product review from a awesome company. This week I will be trying two lean cuisine’s as I will be on the run much of the week working on the UNH gourmet dinner.

This dish above the ginger garlic stir fry was a nice one stop dish. The chicken was the standard lean cusisine chikcen meat which lacks a touch of texture in the sort of way that a carrots falls apart after being cooked for a long period of time. The pasta was just the right amount a bit of bite from the whole grain taste but with the delicious sauce of perfumed garlic and the aroma of fragrant ginger filled my nostrils with visions of standing in over a wok at a Chinese restaurant and breathing deep. The sauce wasn’t sweet in the way most sauces are in meals today and that was refreshing to me. To the end of the crisp broccoli and snap peas to carrots although dull in color were a nice filler to this overall meal.

To you weight watchers out there this meal is 5 points total and I would buy this one again.

Review: Vitamin Water Zero XXX

Vitamin Water Zero XXX

No no no XXX doesn’t mean what you think it means. But you may see someone in that profession drinking one of these drinks soon. But anyway I headed downstairs to my cafe in my apartment and picked up one of these on the way out. I have been a fan of the vitamin water series essential and multi v for their but there 10 calorie series had a very off non pleasant aftertaste to them. I saw this one had no calories at all, I was skeptical at first on these series. But I drived in with a fresh cup of ice and drink and I was surprised to find a light not overly artificially sweetened beverage.  The light berry last lingered in my mouth which I was fine with. Good job Coca-Cola with this latest venture. Now only if they could make a zero spicy chicken sandwich I would be set for life.
