Review: LEAN CUISINE Ginger Garlic Stir Fry with Chicken

Lean Cuisine Ginger Garlic Stir Fry with Chicken

Now that I got the update out of the way we can start on a test run of the weekly reviews to be interrupted by a special product review from a awesome company. This week I will be trying two lean cuisine’s as I will be on the run much of the week working on the UNH gourmet dinner.

This dish above the ginger garlic stir fry was a nice one stop dish. The chicken was the standard lean cusisine chikcen meat which lacks a touch of texture in the sort of way that a carrots falls apart after being cooked for a long period of time. The pasta was just the right amount a bit of bite from the whole grain taste but with the delicious sauce of perfumed garlic and the aroma of fragrant ginger filled my nostrils with visions of standing in over a wok at a Chinese restaurant and breathing deep. The sauce wasn’t sweet in the way most sauces are in meals today and that was refreshing to me. To the end of the crisp broccoli and snap peas to carrots although dull in color were a nice filler to this overall meal.

To you weight watchers out there this meal is 5 points total and I would buy this one again.

Total score – 4 out of 5 stars

Review: Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers Balsamic Garlic Chicken

Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers Balsamic Garlic Chicken

So I am going to kick up my posts this week I went shopping and found some interesting and some long standing items to test out this week. Also some exciting news I have a upcoming sponsored review for http://www.sodastreamusa.com/ that have asked me to review honestly there flavors of soda and the machine that makes the soda as well. A glass of soda through their system on average costs 25 cents after the initial investment and the bottles they supply makes and their co2 exchange system makes it a lot greener than companies. I drink a lot of soda especially diet soda so I am excited to try the flavors and mix a few of my own.

But today is for Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers Balsamic Garlic Chicken. This is part of their new Mediterranean series that includes four flavors: Grilled Basil Chicken, Balsamic Garlic Chicken, Grilled Vegetables Mediterranean, and Lemon Garlic Chicken and Shrimp. The balsamic garlic chicken out of the box looked very different from the packaging, most notably the mushrooms were darkened like a grape let out in the sun too long. I shrugged that off and cooked it for five minutes and tosses it together. Walking toward the kitchen I thought something was cooking garlic bread but when I tried my dish I found the garlic flavor destroyed by the sauce and other components. The Balsamic sauce was so sweet I thought someone at the company mixed up the sodium with sugar. Not to mention the onions and red peppers were like the frozen bagged type and fell apart while cooking and only added to the sweetness. The pasta on a good note was cooked perfect for my taste and the chicken although smaller than the Asian inspired chicken packed some flavor of the herbs. I think healthy choice needs to tweak this recipe a little for it to be a good to great product. This product is also 5 points on weight watchers.

Final Score – 5.2/10
