Review: Good Life Granola Apple Crisp Blend

Good Life Granola Apple Crisp

I am back! After an extended vacation I have decided to start putting the fingers to the keys again and restart Supermarket Eats. I hope you enjoy my re-opening review.

My habitual morning meal of lately has been fruit, granola, Greek Yogurt and then eggs on my two days off. So I was doing some research I found my good friends at Good Life Granola had a new flavor. I contacted them to inquire about a sample and it arrived a few days ago.

Good Life Granola is made is small batch format. They use a combination of local ingredients and simple natural ingredients in their mix. In the ingredients list they only have 16 listed and most of them are the unique spices that make apple crisp the hearty warm spiced food it is.

So besides using the granola I received as just a snack, I made a quick apple crisp with fresh local apples, the granola, a little butter, and a brown-white cinnamon sugar mix. Since the granola already has nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon, and all spice the crisp came out fully rounded. I scooped a little of my favorite cold vanilla ice cream and had an awesome quick dessert.

The granola as a snack has a good chew to it with the slivered almonds give a nice needed snap and the dried Michigan apples a sweet chew. The thing I like about this blend of granola besides the spices, is that it is not overly sweet.

Overall a really great product with quite a few applications of use.

Review: Del Monte Lite Strawberry Peach Ready to Blend

Del Monte Lite Strawberry Peach Ready to Blend

This one was an exciting review for me cause I love smoothies they are so easy to make and portable in the morning or for a quick lunch. Del Monte has made it even easier pop open both freshpacks and dump them in the blender with a larger cup of ice. Blend them for two minutes or until smooth and enjoy. I am not the biggest fan of peaches but the consistency was perfect nice and thick but not to thick to drink. The flavor was good but nothing to write home about the peach overran the strawberry and the flavor was a little weak but that could have been the amount of ice I used. I enjoyed it none the less and would buy it again or one of the other four flavors I saw or add a splash of juice to this one.

Total Score – 3 out of 5 stars

Question of the Day – What’s your favorite fruit to place in your smoothies?

Review: Michelina’s Gravy and Sausage Breakfast Snackers

Gravy and Sausage Breakfast Snackers

Yeah Yeah I know I said Wednesday but I was busy, please forgive me. So I found some free time finally and decided to post on this interesting frozen “snack” I found.

Michelina’s Gravy and Sausage Breakfast Snackers contained 5 bun like object that reminded me of the Hot Pocket Sideshots and looked like breast implants.

I cooked them for the short time in the microwave with a thought in the back of my mind that once microwaved that the buns would dry out over time but they were short and the bread portion was a nice texture. The problem I had with these “snackers” is who is having a breakfast snack, I mean really. I loved the thought that these snackers would be something I would enjoy but I found them disappointed the spices and pepper notes could have been much stronger and there was barely any filling at all.

See the picture below. Lastly with 9g of saturated fat in just the 5 little buns, one can only wonder how good they are for you.

Deflated Buns

FINAL SCORE – 5/10

Review: Good Life Granola

Good Life Granola

Good Life Granola is what was in my belly today, I received this sample from a contest they ran. I tried it two ways as a snack and as a breakfast granola. This company I found with the iwearyourshirt.com community as they were a monthly sponsor of Jason Sadler’s Daily Live Show found here: http://www.ustream.tv/iwearyourshirt. The ingredient list again sings to me of normality: oats, pecans, almonds, brown sugar, maple syrup, canola oil , cinnamon, sea salt, and vanilla. The fact that I know and can read everything in that list is a plus. The one list I would like to see though is the nutritional information of the granola.

The taste was phenomenal it was sweeter than the last granola I reviewed and the nuttiness was still very prominent. The texture was very crisp and quite pleasant. When it was placed in the milk it sweetened up my milk and did not get soggy. Another thing that made this granola stand out more than the other granola I reviewed recently was they each piece of granola was separate and not in chunks like the other one which makes it a very got candidate for my new breakfast granola. Ill probably hit it with just a dash of extra cinnamon in my milk and nom on it when I purchase my next batch soon. Very happy with this product and remember it is a local product from Michigan that is just branching out into online sales located here: http://bit.ly/8D5nnA. So if you live in Michigan go out and find some today or order some online and you will you be very happy with this product.

TOTAL SCORE – 9.6/10
